About Us

The Lakes Inn is a family owned and operated business.  

Our grandparents were one of the first residents on Lake Sherwood in 1968.  We enjoyed holidays and summers in the Lake area throughout our childhood – never missing a 4th of July fireworks show, eventually holding summer jobs in the area and skiing with the Shermalot Ski Team. Lake Sherwood continued to be our getaway destination as we settled into Chicago with our careers and started our own families.

We have come full circle as our children grow and we look to spend more time in the area. The opportunity to buy and run The Lakes Inn (fka The Shermalot Motel) was a perfect opportunity for us to come home and create permanent roots in the community!
